Autumn is upon us once again which means it’s time for our Annual Scarecrow Competition.
Villages up and down the county now hold scarecrow festivals and trails, and I must admit I am a little jealous of the number of displays set out by some communities. Over the years we have had some fantastic scarecrows in Castleside, what we lack in quantity we certainly make up for in quality. Although we will have no Autumn Festival this year, next year will see the launch of a new annual village festival with the scarecrow competition playing an important role.
It would be fabulous if as many of you as possible could join in the fun and display a scarecrow this year. Wouldn’t it be marvellous if people made a special journey to visit our village to see our scarecrows.
Go on, give it a go. The scarecrow does not have to be made from straw; it can be made from anything.
If you could have your scarecrow displayed by 10.30 on the Saturday morning and drop a private message to Castleside Community Facebook page or email the Parish Clerk to tell us where your entry is.
The winners will be announced on the evening of 8th October at the WI 100th Anniversary concert at the Village Hall. Then on the Parish Council’s website the day after.
